As we speed towards the end of the year, it seems only right that we pause for a moment to contemplate 2016. If you’re planning a wedding next year then this is a feature that you won’t want to miss because we’re rounding up some of the best wedding trends for 2016 here on the Hot Pink blog. There’s a lot to get through so let’s not wait a moment longer…

Botanical inspired motifs have been very popular in the wedding world recently and the recent bridal fashion shows in New York were bursting with botanical wedding gowns. From floral laces to trailing blossoms and embellishments, the new collections were full of botanical influences. The new lines have worked this traditional and feminine look into striking, fashion forward designs and we love them.

Partly inspired by the botanical renaissance and partly influenced by our love of vintage and boho weddings, the cascade or waterfall bouquet is going to be big in 2016. These loose, tumbling arrangements work perfectly with straighter gowns and bring a wild romance to your bridal look.

As weddings have evolved so much over recent years, the identikit hired morning suit is losing its position as the go-to outfit for grooms and groomsmen. No more patterned waistcoats or pastel cravats because 2016 grooms will be stepping out in sharply tailored coloured suits.

You’ll see these jewel toned suits up and down the high street but why not opt for a bespoke ensemble for a wedding and enjoy the luxury of fine tailoring.

Say goodbye to waiting staff bearing a few glasses of champagne on a tray in 2016 and embrace the drinks station trend! This has been growing in popularity in recent years and now, creative, inventive and altogether brilliant drinks stations are a wedding must-have. From beautifully styled bars serving signature cocktails and late-night hot chocolate counters through to beer bars and glass dispensers arranged on vintage furniture, there will be a drinks station that will suit your theme perfectly.

Another big trend that’s been inspired by our love of the botanical, the foliage wedding will be big in 2016. Instead of flowers with a few pieces of foliage, the look will be reversed with masses of greenery accentuated with just a few blooms. Perfect for rustic, city, industrial and even boho weddings, foliage is more beautiful and more adaptable than you might think.

In our social media savvy world, the wedding selfie station is an absolute must. Give your guests a great location to pose to their heart’s content and then encourage them to upload images, not forgetting your very own wedding hashtag of course! Watch your wedding take over timelines everywhere!

The elegant, sophisticated and beautiful single layer wedding cake looks set to become even more popular in 2016. These are perfect for intimate weddings or simply for creating a refined centerpiece without the towering tiers of a more traditional style. If you really love your cake, there’s nothing to stop you going for two or more single layer cakes, all with deliciously different flavours.

Large scale hanging decorations will be huge in 2016 in more ways than one. Instead of clogging tables with vases and arrangements, flowers and foliage are hung above the tables creating the most fabulous look. Suspended arrangements are a brilliant way of making a high ceiling seem lower, a large venue feel more intimate and of course, they demand to be noticed, even when all your guests are seated.

Watercolour weddings are just beautiful and any colour palette looks amazing when the colours are lightly washed across your wedding. Stationery featuring watercolour designs is already popular and this look is set to make weddings artistic and ethereal.

Our last trend for 2016 is a foodie’s dream as mini shot desserts are going to be the tasty treat of choice in the next twelve months. Instead of serving up desserts to guests, let them choose their own from a mouthwatering buffet of mini puds. Tiny trifles, petit pies, cute crumbles and blobs of gourmet ice creams will all make your guests smile with happiness.
